It is my distinct honor and pleasure to invite you to the American University Model United Nations Conference 2011 (AUMUNC).  This year, the conference will be held on the campus of American University in Washington, D.C., from February 3-6, 2011.  The Secretariat, Chairs, Vice Chairs, Crisis Directors and Staff are working tirelessly to plan an exciting, fast-paced conference.  With General Assembly committees ranging from Legal to Social and Humanitarian, to Crisis Committees including the Organization of American States and African Union, delegates will be debating issues that affect nations throughout the world.

By coming to the American University Model United Nations Conference, delegates will not only be debating issues in the nation’s capital, but will have the opportunity to interact with other students and staff from all over the country and globe.  In previous conferences, we’ve had delegates from New York, New Jersey, Maryland, North Carolina, Florida and even from as far away as China, Guatemala and Mexico!

Delegates coming to AUMUNC will be able to experience both a nationally-renowned university and a national arboretum. American University is also just a short Metro ride away from countless historical landmarks, including the Washington Monument, U.S. Capitol, White House, Smithsonian and Georgetown.

Our goal at AUMUNC is to be more than just a competitive conference.  While we want students to try their hardest, its not just about winning Best Delegate.  We want students to learn from one another, and meet other high school students who have had different experiences.  That is why we offer training sessions for delegates, provide feedback on position papers and work with students to ensure they have a great experience.  Because first and foremost, AUMUNC is a teaching conference.

On behalf of the entire Secretariat and Staff, I would like to extend an invitation to you to participate in the American University Model United Nations Conference 2011.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at secretariat@aumunc.org or by phone at (516) 647-4075.

Sincerely,

Ed Levandoski
Secretary-General
